costumes
made: August 2006
worn at: Dragon*con 2006

about: I have officially seen Bladrunner 50 times, 45 of which were immediately before making this costume! Jia suggested I do it because of a passing resemblance to the character, so I did it! The fact that I got to wear a slick business suit was certainly a plus! I do like the movie, but to this day have never read the novel. Shame on me! And Rachael is a pretty likable heroine, vulnerable but not a wuss. If it were me, I might be a wuss. I think it would take a lot from a person (or android) who knows they only have a short time to live.

The actual costruction wasn't complicated at all, but it was quite a hassle to see all the minor details of the outfit because its only shown in the movie for about five minutes during the scene where Rachael is given the Voight-Kampff test. Somehow I managed to have the perfect fabric for the outfit on hand, which I bought for $1 a yard a couple years before! I'm happy this costume only cost me about $30 to make!
